SCHOOLS
While construction usually occurs during summer holidays, severe structural decay or other problems may force repairs to be completed while school is in session. When working on an occupied school, the health and safety of children is paramount. Issues may include:
• Demolition is limited to a narrow range of hours;
• Protecting children from the construction (and the site from prying and mischievous children) is crucial;
• Air quality control is critical since mould issues usually precipitated the repairs in the first place;
• Noise must be constrained at all times:
• Extreme site cleanliness is paramount.
OFFICE TOWERS
Restoration work on an office tower usually takes place under a unique set of restraints. For instance:
• Noise issues require much of the work to be completed after business hours, as noise transmission in concrete buildings is much more severe than wood structures;
• Public safety is a constant issue due to the location of these buildings;
• Problems associated with access for loading and unloading as well as general parking can be severe.
